Frequently Asked Questions:
We have compiled these frequently asked questions to help you survive in the battle torn world of Project of Planets. This FAQ will give you general information about the game.
Q1: What is "Project of Planets"?
A1: "Project of Planets" is a science fiction Massively Multiplayer Online Game developed by Miracle Castle. The game takes place about 250 years after a cosmic organism invasion and humanity is struggling to reclaim Earth against invaders. Human warriors armed with mech bodies fight back these cosmic organisms in order to reclaim Earth. The game features a dynamic combat system where you take on the role of a mech pilot battling the ever present alien menace. The game inspires teamwork through legions and group dungeons called “Bins”.
Q2: What are the basic stats in the game?
A2: There are three basic stats in the game, they are:
Stamina: This stat affects your character’s overall damage and maximum amount of mental point (MP). This attribute is important if you wish to use an Assault Mech. The equipment used by the Assault Mech requires stamina. Stamina does not increase the amount of hit points your character has.
Mentality: This stat affects your MP recovery speed and hit rating. Hit rating is your chance to hit. The Mentality stat is important to the Raider Mech. The equipment used by the Raider Mech requires mentality.
Handling: This stat affects your character’s defense rating and critical strike chance. The Handling attribute is important if you wish to use a Commander Mech. The equipment used by the Commander Mech requires Handling.
At the beginning of the game you will have 5 points in each of these stats. As you level up all three of these stats go up by 1 point automatically. Additionally, when you level up, you will receive 2 points which you may assign freely to any of these stats.
Q3: What are the basic attributes of the character?
A3: Every character in the game has three basic attributes:
Energy Shield (ES) shields you from damage before your mech takes hit point damage. There are some weapons and skills that ignore shields completely and deal hit point damage directly. Energy Shield is denoted by a yellow bar on the user interface.
Hit Points (HP) denotes your characters health points. Once this reaches zero your mech is destroyed. You may choose to re-spawn at the nearest re-spawn location, or use a Battleground Restoration device to re-spawn at your current location.
Mental Points (MP) is similar to spell points and is used for gliding your mech and for certain skills that require Mental Points to cast.
The Energy Shield attribute will regenerate during combat, however your Hit Points and your Mental Points will not. If your equipment has the Hit Point or Mental Point Recovery ability, then they recover during combat by the amount granted by the equipment.
Q4: How can I move, glide, fire, switch to FPS Mode and use skills in the game?
A4: Use the WASD keys on your keyboard to move forward, backwards, left and right. Additionally the Q and E are also used for turning left and right. Pressing the Spacebar will allow your mech to glide. Clicking the left mouse button will allow you to fire in a combat zone or battlefield and arena. Pressing the Tab key will switch your view between normal mode and FPS Mode. Pressing the corresponding keys 1,2,3,4, Ctrl+1and Ctrl+2 or the F1~F8 will allow you to use the skills accordingly.
Q5: What classes can I play as?
A5: You may choose to play one of three Mechbody types depending on your character stats. What mechbody you wear will determine your class.
Assault: The Assault Mechbody requires high stamina. It grants the highest number of hit points but has the lowest damage output. An Assault mech is your typical tank, slow lumbering, but heavy hitting and resilient.
Raider: The Raider Mechbody requires high mentality. This mechbody grants the lowest amount of hit points of the three mechs. Its damage output however is the greatest of the three. Think of a Raider mech as a DPS class similar to a ranger or rogue; it is agile, fast moving, and deals lethal blows, but is rather fragile.
Commander: The Commander Mechbody requires high handling. This mechbody grants moderate hit points. The commander has access to party and ally enhancements as well as debuffs against enemies. They are similar to healers and buffers.
Keep in mind that you are not stuck in one class. You may simply change classes by donning a different mechbody type so long as you have the required stat amount.
Q6: What are the attack types in the game?
A6: There are three different types of attack you may use in the game.
Bullet: Bullet weapons require high stamina. Bullet weapons tend to deal moderate damage overall, have the cheapest ammunition cost, and do not heat up as fast as other weapon types. Bullet weapons in general are slower and have very short range, but deal a lot of damage.
Laser: Laser weapons require high mentality. Laser weapons deal the highest damage, are very fast, and have the furthest range. These tend to heat up quickly and have the most expensive ammunition.
Electromagnetic (EM): EM weapons require high handling. EM weapons are essentially middle of the line weapons. They do not have the high range of laser weapons and are not as short ranged as bullet weapons. They also have middle of the line heat and damage.
In FPS mode the three weapon types function differently from each other:
Bullet weapons attack all targets within range in a cone area.
Laser weapons attack all targets within range in a straight line.
EM weapons attack all targets within range in a spray area.
Most monster attacks are Bullet, Laser, EM, and Chemical. You can tell the type of attack the monster is using by the symbol next to its resistance bar on the lower right corner of the monster info bar that appears when you mouse over it. A B in front of a resistance bar means the monster or player is using a bullet type weapon. A yellow L in front of a resistance bar means the monster or player is using a laser type weapon. A blue E in front of a resistance bar means the monster or player is using an EM type weapon. A green C in front of a resistance bar means the monster is using a chemical type weapon
Q7: What are the skills in the game?
A7: There are three types of skills in the game; weapon skills, controller skills, and wisdom skills.
Weapon skills: Equipping different types of weapons grants your character different skills. If you equip a two-handed weapon you will have two skills on your main hand. If you equip a main handed weapon and an off hand weapon or shield you will have a skill on your main hand and a skill on your off hand. Equipping a shoulder weapon will grant you an additional skill.
Controller skills: Depending upon the mechbody you have equipped (assault, raider, or commander) you will be able to equip controllers that grant additional skills.
Wisdom skills: Wisdom skills are obtained through your talent tree. Beginning at level 10 and every even level there after, you will receive a talent point. Different talents grant passive or active skills. Active skills function similar to controller skills in that you must activate them during play
Q8: How do I equip mechbodies, armors, controllers, and weapons on my character?
A8: Different equipment types have different rules for equipping them:
Mechbody: You may only equip a mechbody at a Mech Replacement NPC found at either Base Abergate or Base Liron. Drag the mechbody you wish to equip unto your character replacing the previously equipped mechbody.
Controllers: You may only equip controllers while at base Abergate, base Liron, or a safe zone. The safe zones currently are: Base Abergate, Base Liron, Base Karl, Cross River Base, Dawn (South), Dawn (North), Dawn (Orefield), and Gemini Fortress.
Weapons: You may equip weapons anywhere in the game so long as they are not overheated or their skills are on cool down.
Armor Plates: You may equip armor plates anywhere in the game.
Q9: How do I obtain mechbodies, weapons, armor plates, controllers, and other equipment?
A9: You obtain most of these items from merchants found throughout the game. Additionally you may obtain these items as rewards from monsters or as quest rewards. Items higher than level 30 such as weapons, mechbodies and controllers may only be obtained through quests, loot from monsters, or purchased from the auction house. Armor plates and ammunition higher than level 30 may still be purchased from merchants.
-Mechbodies: Mechbodies levels 1 thru 30 are purchased at a Mech Manager NPC.
-Controllers: Controllers levels 1 thru 30 are purchased at a Controller Merchant.
-Weapons: Weapons levels 1 thru 30 are purchased at a Weapon Merchant.
-Armor Plates: Armor Plates levels 1 thru 60 are purchased at an Armor Merchant.
-Ammunition: Ammunition levels 1 thru 60 is purchased at a Quartermaster NPC.
Keep in mind that equipment has stat requirements, level requirements, and in the case of controllers, mechbody requirements. I.e. you can’t equip Assault controllers if you have a Raider mechbody equipped.
In addition to obtaining equipment through the above methods, you may also obtain equipment from a Reputation merchant. You gain reputation by selling Exploit Items to a reputation admin. Reputation equipment is better than standard equipment purchased through a merchant.
Q10: What's durability and how to maintain it?
A10: All items in the game have durability. As you take damage from combat your equipment has a chance to degrade. If your character dies your equipment degrades even further. Once the durability of your equipment reaches 0, the equipment is no longer functional and will not convey skills, abilities, stats. Keep in mind that only equipment that you have equipped is affected by durability loss through combat or death of your character. You will not suffer durability loss through player vs. player combat.
You may repair the durability loss at a Maintenance Technician. A maintenance technician offers three forms of repair:
-Common Maintenance: This is the least expensive type of maintenance. If an item has suffered up to 30% or more durability loss then the maximum durability value of the item is has a chance to be reduced by 30%. For example, if you have an item with a maximum of 100 durability, and it has taken 40 points of durability loss (showing 60/100) using common maintenance has a chance to reduce its maximum durability to 70; the item will then show 70/70. Common maintenance repairs only one item at a time; simply drag an item you wish to repair in this fashion unto one of the repair slots.
-Special Maintenance: Special maintenance is significantly more expensive than any other form of repair. Your equipment will not suffer maximum durability loss using this repair method.
-Complete Maintenance- This method is the same as Common maintenance except that it repairs all items equipped on your character at once.
When an item on your character has suffered 50% durability loss an orange icon will appear on the right side of the interface alerting you of this condition.
Q11: How do I obtain and load ammunition in the game?
A11: Ammunition is divided into three types: Bullet for bullet weapons, Energy Cubes for laser weapons, and capacitors for EM weapons. The Quartermaster admin NPC sells all levels of ammunition.
High level ammunition has higher damage per second (DPS). You will be able to obtain higher grade ammunition every 5 levels, with level 55 ammunition currently being the highest grade ammunition you may obtain.
Your character has an ammunition bin right below his normal inventory. This ammunition bin may be expanded at the quartermaster NPC. The ammunition bin contains all the ammunition you’ve obtained. To load ammunition, simply drag the ammo from the ammunition bin onto the small ammo slot beside the weapon. The ammunition type must match the weapon type being used, i.e. bullets for bullet weapons or energy cubes for laser weapons.
Q12: How do I travel throughout different zones and areas in the game?
A12: Large areas and zones in the game are interconnected at different points. These spots are denoted by a light blue ring effect. Simply walk through the ring and your character will “zone” over to the next adjacent area.
At different locations throughout the game you will find a Teleporter NPC. You may use this NPC to travel quickly between different areas of the game world. Keep in mind that you must be above level 10 to travel into Base Liron.
In addition to the above methods you may also use a transmitter. These items have predetermined teleport locations. For example, a Base Liron transmitter will teleport your character from anywhere in the game to Base Liron.
Q13: How can I enhance my equipment?
A13: There are four methods to enhance your equipment in the game. All of these methods are done at an Enhancement Technician NPC. This NPC is found at Base Abergate or Base Liron.
Compose: Each time you compose an item a random attribute is placed on the item such as greater DPS, mentality point regeneration, resistance etc. To compose an item you will need a copy of the same item of the same grade. Two white items make a green item, two green items make a blue item, two blue items make a purple item, and two purple items make an orange item. Each time you compose an item you receive an additional attribute on the item.
A Compose Device speeds this process up. Instead of using a copy of the same item, you may use a compose device to compose the item. For example, a white item may be made into a green item by composing it together with a green Compose Device. Conversely, a green item may be made into a blue item by using a blue Compose Device.
Enhance: In addition to composing an item you may enhance an item as well. Each time you enhance an item it increases its stat values. You may enhance an item up to 10 times. Each time you enhance an item the chance of success decreases. You have 100% chance to enhancing an item once. A 75% chance to enhance it the second time, a 50% chance to enhance it a third time and so on. Upon successfully enhancing an item the fourth time the item will give off a glow.
To enhance an item you will need a System Enhancement Alloy for mechbodies and weapons, while you’ll need a System Enhancement Program to enhance armor plates and controllers.
A Primary Enhancement Alloy or Primary Enhancement Program will enhance an item up to +3. A Medium Enhancement Alloy or Medium Enhancement Program will enhance an item from +4 to +6. An Advanced Enhancement Alloy or Advanced Enhancement Program will enhance an item from +7 to +9.
Plug-ins: Plug-ins give your mechbody or weapon additional attribute bonuses. There are crystal slots and chip slots. These plug-ins may only be applied to a weapon or to a mechbody. Shift Left Click on either of these items to view the plug-in interface. These plug-in slots are sealed but you may unseal them by using a Chip or Crystal Slot Expansion devices. Once you have unsealed them you may place attribute chips or crystals on the respective slots. You find these attribute chips and crystals as drops throughout the game and as quest rewards.
Sync: Synchonizing your equipment increases all of its attributes by 10%. However, by doing this the item becomes bound to your character and you may no longer trade it.
Q14: How can I gain get Reputation Points?
A14: In the game you may get exploit items as drops of monsters. These exploit items can be exchanged for reputation points at a Reputation Admin NPC. You will also receive reputation points upon completing a Battle Order quest. A reputation NPCs is located at Base Abergate and Base Liron.
Q15: Where can I do player vs. player (PvP) without getting PK value?
A15: If you kill a player whose name is in white text, you will gain 1 PK value and your name will be in red text. While your name is in red text any player may attack you, additionally, guards in town will also attack your character. Your name will remain red for approximately 30 minutes. You may reduce your PK value by using an Exemption Order item.
Q16: What's the requirement of Battlefields in the game?
A16: Battlefields are known as Instanced Dungeons in other games. There are currently two battlefields in Project of Planets; Ophy Airdrop Bin and Impasse Passage. Each of these battlefields has two difficulties, Normal and Difficult for Old Soldier.
-Ophy Airdrop Bin may be entered at Normal difficulty once your character is level 25 or above. Once you’re level 35 or higher you may enter Ophy Airdrop Bin on the Difficult for Old Soldier difficulty.
-Impasse Passage may be entered at Normal difficulty once your character is level 50 or above. Once you’re level 55 or higher you may enter Impasse Passage on the Difficult for Old Soldier difficulty.
Additional information we believe could be added.
Q17: May I customize the look of my mech or my avatar?
A17: Currently, once you’ve created your avatar you may not change the way it looks in game. Your mech however, changes the way it looks upon obtaining a new mechbody. Additionally, assault mechs are denoted by their blue paint job. Raider mechs are denoted by their white paint scheme, and Commander mechs are denoted by their green paint pattern. Either through quests or the Cash Shop you will be able to purchase additional paint schemes to change the color pattern of your mechbody.
In addition to the different mech designs found from merchants or throughout the game world, mechbodies purchased at the Reputation Admin NPC have their own unique design. Rare mechbodies found as drops from Battlefields or from rare named monsters also have their own unique design.
Q18: Can my avatar leave the mech?
A18: When creating a new character you will also have a chance to create the pilot. You will be able to select his or her facial features and body uniform. Currently the pilot of your mech may not leave the mech in any form. In other words, your mech and pilot are a single character.
Q19: Is there crafting in the game?
A19: There is currently no crafting of items in Project of Planet. You may however use the composing and enhancement systems provided by the Enhancement Technician NPC.
Q20: How do battlefields (instanced dungeons) function?
A20: Similar to other MMOs with instanced dungeons, battlefields in Project of Planets allow only your character and members of your party to enter. Any other players that are not in your party will not be able to enter the battlefield. If your group breaks up while inside the battlefield those party members will be kicked out of the battlefield and will spawn at the nearest respawn location.
Q21: How does my character obtain inventory space?
A21: You character starts the game with one inventory slot. Each slot conveys 20 inventory spaces. After level 5 you will receive a quest to obtain an additional inventory slot increasing your inventory space an additional 20, for a combined total of 40 inventory spaces.
You will have to collect Small, Medium, and Large Galaxy kits and convert them to P-Points by right clicking on them. Once you have obtained enough P-Points you will be able to purchase additional inventory Slots from the cash shop using those P-Points. Small, Medium, and Large Galaxy kits drop from monsters throughout the game world.
Your warehouse space is expanded in a similar fashion. You begin the game with a single warehouse slot which conveys 30 spaces. At level 10 you will receive a quest that will allow you to obtain an additional warehouse slot. You may purchase additional warehouse slots through the Cash Shop using P-Points.
